How to stop PROCRASTINATION -- 8 Tips for Maximum Productivity throughout the day
We all do struggle with procrastination but procrastination is nothing new. Living in a world full of distractions, it's difficult for us to stop procrastination. Procrastination means postponing your work. Its also keep you away from your work.
Most importantly, we should realize procrastination not only as the putting off of work until tomorrow, but also undertaking other, less important tasks as a means of putting off the more significant ones. Procrastination rarely includes doing zero work, but it does include doing the improper thing for that period. You want to complete your work but for some reason, you are wasting your time like if checking social media or gossiping.
Psychologically it resists you to do work, maybe you are scared of completing that work then there's a fear of downfall. Sometimes we waste our time for unknown purposes. You know the work is essential, you want to be serious But psychologically you are being opposed to doing the work.
How to overcome procrastination?
Set a deadline:
Be honest with yourself and set a deadline to meet your goal. Your work needs to be done. First of all, set a personal deadline as if I will complete this work in between these days. Then start doing that. Your deadline should be terminated before the official deadline. So that you can review your work.
Start and break your task into small part:
If it's a big important project or assignment, after counting the total time, split your work into groups. You can complete each part of your work each day or maybe in different hours of a day.
Take yourself to the Deep work zone:
Deep Work, a Book by Cal Newport, has described deep work zone and it's beneficial sides. You can read that book as well for better understanding. It is a capability that enables you to promptly master confounded knowledge and achieve better outcomes in shorter duration. When you start doing any work for 15 minutes, for that 15 minutes concentration you will enter into the deep work zone automatically. It means psychologically your mind will be prepared to do more work. So starting is important.
Develop a Good morning routine:
It's the normal preference of the human brain that human brains are established to be more active in the morning, furnishing a mental boost to help you to focus and concentrate and delivering you the power you want to get through the day. So get up early in the morning and develops healthy morning routine for maximum productivity throughout the day.
Write down a Not To-do list:
Normally we are used to making a to-do list for a day. It's a good habit but if you know you are procrastinating then make a not-to-do list. It's a reminder for you to focus on the task should be fulfilled. Write down about all these things like not to use mobile phones for more than 2 hours etc. These are going to be the key sources of procrastination if you are not going to eliminate your procrastinators. Try to avoid everything on that list as much as you can. You can also include tasks to do later but not important for right now. It prevents you to not cultivate any bad habits.
Plan your day before the night beforehand:
It's an advanced habit because generally, we keep saying to ourselves " I will do it tomorrow/later! ". So it's better to write it down the night beforehand. Remember planning is important to stop procrastination, the more you will do it systematically, the more it will be fruitful. By doing so you are not going to procrastinate because you're always knowing what's going to happen/do next and you won't spend to much time on a simple task. You are mentally prepared for what you are going to expect and what you are going to want to get accomplished.
